From Holland’s thriving electronic music scene, yet another promising artist steps into the limelight. After being involved in a number of groundbreaking projects, dj/producer Edwin Oosterwal is taking things to the next level. With a critically acclaimed solo-début, Dusty House Room 4, on his own Rejected imprint and gigs in some of Europe’s leading clubs, an international breakthrough is inevitable.
Edwin started dj-ing in the East of Holland, where he was studying to be an engineer and first met his friend and future musical patner in crime Joris Voorn. Mixing all types of music for tough crowds, Edwin soon mastered the craft of dance floor wizardry. Deejaying remained a passion in those days, only to become the main focus in later years. Edwin’s engineering endeavours brought him to all corners of the world, picking up different musical influences along the way. His years in Sydney broadened and deepened his take on electronic music. Living in NYC helped further develop Edwin’s historical perception.

Edwin returned to Dutch shores in 2005 a seasoned musical connoisseur. He soon hooked back up with Joris, who at the time was making a serious career out of spinning and producing. The two of them started Rejected – production outfit, dj-team and label. From the first release it was clear that Rejected had international appeal. For The People, Cliché and Let’s Go Juno ended up in all the right record bags. Moreover, as a label manager for Rejected and the more techno-oriented Green, Edwin also helped sign such pivotal releases as Pitto’s Feelin’ and 360’s Neon.

After more than fifteen years of paying his dues and biding his time, Edwin finds an old dream fulfilled. Not only is he heading two of Holland’s leading electronic music labels. He is also touring the world with his own contemporary take on the sound he has been representing since the early nineties – as Rejected and by himself. Awakenings, Fabric and Panoramabar are only the beginning. The rest is set to follow suit.

hotlips finally :)

still riding high on the wave of support for joris voorn’s ‘dusty house ep’ (check the overall beatport chart, it’s already at number 4!) we return with a release that features two summer bombs.
first up and opening the release in fantastic style is ‘hotlips’. edwin oosterwal and his buddy warren fellow, deliver a cut that has already gained cult status in the netherlands. built around a trademark ‘rejected’ groove, its simplicity is its strength. super solid house beats woven together with the laidback vocal hook, create a sexy dancefloor mover.
fred trumpet, delivers the ‘last call’ to all those looking to sample the wonderful breath fueled instruments. ‘retteketet’ is without doubt one of the biggest tracks of the year, set to take the summer season by storm. a horn line that could’ve been lifted from the finest of soul bands to those of gansta-town 1940′s. with its eastern oboe break for good measure, it is a true delight. sys, for those of you who are also tired of the brass, and read this with a sense of fear, do not despair. if you only play one more horn sampling track this year, make sure its this one!

siksmiks at the flexbar!

together with secret cinema, steve rachmad, warren fellow and kabale und liebe, joris and edwin will hold a new residency at the flexbar in amsterdam. the kick off will be on thursday the 30th of october. every second and fourth thursday of the month a different miks of two artists will host the night. visuals will be supplied by reach visuals. check the siksmiks trailer under the visuals.

a green night at todays art

at this year’s todays art festival we hosted the small room at the paard van troje in the hague. line up included robert babicz, chymera, joris voorn and edwin oosterwal. the night was a great succes and we would like to thank everybody for coming. here you can find an impression of the night.

rejected label featured on new mix cds by michel de hey and benny rodrigues

two tracks of the rejected label are featured on the no nonense cd mixed by michel de hey. first up is the track hotlips by warren fellow and edwin oosterwal. this track will be released on rejected in the not too distant future. second up is the district one remix of let’s go juno. besides these two tracks joris voorn’s remix of dark flower is also featured on the cd. even more tracks of our label were featured on the big & dirty sounds mixed by benny rodrigues. benny included rejected’s remix of jeroen verheij’s chica-go, lost and sl3.

rejected members joris voorn and edwin oosterwal were joining forces in nyc end of september.while in europe it was pouring rain, in nyc the sun was shining brightly!!joris was playing two gigs in rothko and sullivan room, and did an internet radioshow together with edwin.highlight of the week was visiting dutch national pride ‘dj tiesto’ playing in central park on wednesday night..check some photo phootage here.
