From Holland’s thriving electronic music scene, yet another promising artist steps into the limelight. After being involved in a number of groundbreaking projects, dj/producer Edwin Oosterwal is taking things to the next level. With a critically acclaimed solo-début, Dusty House Room 4, on his own Rejected imprint and gigs in some of Europe’s leading clubs, an international breakthrough is inevitable.
Edwin started dj-ing in the East of Holland, where he was studying to be an engineer and first met his friend and future musical patner in crime Joris Voorn. Mixing all types of music for tough crowds, Edwin soon mastered the craft of dance floor wizardry. Deejaying remained a passion in those days, only to become the main focus in later years. Edwin’s engineering endeavours brought him to all corners of the world, picking up different musical influences along the way. His years in Sydney broadened and deepened his take on electronic music. Living in NYC helped further develop Edwin’s historical perception.

Edwin returned to Dutch shores in 2005 a seasoned musical connoisseur. He soon hooked back up with Joris, who at the time was making a serious career out of spinning and producing. The two of them started Rejected – production outfit, dj-team and label. From the first release it was clear that Rejected had international appeal. For The People, Cliché and Let’s Go Juno ended up in all the right record bags. Moreover, as a label manager for Rejected and the more techno-oriented Green, Edwin also helped sign such pivotal releases as Pitto’s Feelin’ and 360’s Neon.

After more than fifteen years of paying his dues and biding his time, Edwin finds an old dream fulfilled. Not only is he heading two of Holland’s leading electronic music labels. He is also touring the world with his own contemporary take on the sound he has been representing since the early nineties – as Rejected and by himself. Awakenings, Fabric and Panoramabar are only the beginning. The rest is set to follow suit.

dusty house room 4 out now!

over the past twelve months, rejected have seen their super successful ‘dusty house’ series become the catalyst for a reemergence of the filtered house sound. with joris voorn’s ’sweep the floor’ ruling the summer of 2009, and nic fanciulli’s ‘feed the freezer’ dominating the winter months, its time for us to enter la maison once again, this time to visit ‘room 4′. room 4 is occupied by edwin oosterwal, co-owner of both rejected and green imprints alongside joris voorn. our move from room 3 to 4 is seamless, and this is down to the sheer quality of oosterwal’s productions. ’scrub the tub’ with its crowd baiting piano riff and floor shattering bassline is a certain smash. as is ‘beat the dirt’ on the flip with its disco flavoured, funk guitar mastery.

green at doornroosje!

after a very successful night at berlin’s panoramabar last weekend, joris voorn and edwin oosterwal will host a green night at doornroosje in nijmegen this saturday, february 13th. the night is the official release party of ripperton’s debut album on green “niwa”. next to ripperton they invited dutch talents pitto and quince who both are working on releases for green. see you there!

this sunday joris voorn and edwin oosterwal will host a green night at berlin’s panoramabar as part of the closing of this year’s club transmediale. they invited deetron and pitto to join them in one of the world’s most infamous venues. the party starts around 14.00 and will end when the last person has left the dancefloor. see you there!

rejected all night long at trouw!

saturday january 16 joris voorn and edwin oosterwal will play all night long at one of amsterdam’s hottest venues trouw. it will be something very special as they do not often get a chance to play all night long. joris and edwin are both really looking forward and they hope to see you there!

rejected label night at atak

on friday december 18 joris voorn and edwin oosterwal are going back to their roots, back to where it all started: atak, enschede. after both coming in first place at a local dj contest they shared a residency at atak for several years. now they return to host a rejected label night. atak has since then moved to a different venue but that shouldn’t stop them from having fun. they are joined by pitto and reach visuals. hope to see you there!

this friday warren fellow and edwin oosterwal will join forces again at their montly residency at seven in the hague. this time they will do an extra long back to back session starting at 1 pm until the last one leaves. so it’s up to you!

friday the 13th of november joris voorn and edwin oosterwal will host a rejected label night at the legendary club cafe d’anvers in belgium. cafe d’anvers has been around for 20 years and joris and edwin are very excited to play at the club. hope to see you there!
