as you may have noticed joris voorn has released a new mix cd for the balance series: balance 14. for the compilation joris has used over a hundred tracks. please check www.jorisvoorn.com to listen to the cd and see how the different tracks and samples are layered. the layer player was designed by paul swagerman and bob donderwinkel. so far the reviews of the mix have been very good.

from a deep place
Joris Voorn’s second album sounds like it could have been made at any stage over the past fifteen years, but that doesn’t make it a classic. The opening salvo is promising – ‘Revolution’, ‘A Thousand Lost Souls’ and ‘To Embody’ fall pleasingly – and as you might expect - somewhere between Kenny Larkin and Funk D’Void: deep, atmospheric, emotive techno. Exactly what Voorn has built his (deserved) reputation on. But at the end of the dreamy ‘To Embody’, alarm bells start ringing, right after the appearance of the dreaded chimes – a staple in the world of irritating jazz and sure sign that self-indulgence can’t be that far away. the first release of joris voorn’s ‘green label’ arrived in the mail today.the sleeve design by paul swagerman came out just a little different than initially planned, but it still looks great!check out some snippets of the music on a dedicated mind
